Healthy Preschool Snack Ideas

Preschool is such a huge milestone for us mamas and our little ones. It can be overwhelming in the beginning but it does get better.  Soon your little one will be bringing home the cutest crafts for mother’s day and your heart will melt!!

One great thing about preschool is packing food that your kids will eat.  I wanted to give you some tips and ideas about preschool snacks to make it easier for you. #makingmotherhoodeasier

First off – Get them involved: give them choices!

  • Fun lunch kit- have them pick out some snack items and get them to pack it!
  • Peanut free- this is a big one and I am sure your preschool welcome package has mentioned that all snacks must be peanut free. Please remember to check the labels of your favorite granola bars to make sure before you send them.
  • Pack a water bottle

Ok so let’s talk snacks!

Here are a few of my “go-to” for preschool snacks:

  • Fruit- just remember to cut those grapes in half lengthwise- preschoolers are busy!!!
  • Muffins- love mini muffins- they are a perfect size and you can get hide lots of things in muffins that kids don’t know are in there!
  • Granola bars
  • Veggies and dip
  • Crackers and cheese
  • Yogurt (love to freeze the yogurt tubes- make a great freezer pack and they love it too!!)
  • Pepperoni
  • Hummus with pita or veggies
  • Raisin snack packs
  • Mini sandwich
  • Rice Cakes
  • Smoothie
  • Energy Balls with a peanut butter alternative

You Got This Mama!!!

Preschool is a fun and exciting time for your little ones so don’t be surprised if they come home and haven’t eaten everything that you packed them.  Some kids tend to socialize and eat slower which means they don’t always finish their snack. Plan for them to be pretty hungry after preschool so you can always give them the rest of their snack on the way home!

Mama’s with a child that has a food allergy can find school stressful as they don’t know what snacks the other families have brought that may affect their child, so please be mindful of the snack you send.  At the Mama Coach, we offer support to parents to help educate and empower parents to gain control of their child’s allergies and feel more comfortable managing them, if you would like information on our allergy support services, please click here
